Announced today at DC’s Source blog, the upcoming game Arkham City is getting a tie-in comic book written by game writer Paul Dini with art by concept artist Carlos D’anda. The game seeks to bridge the gap between Asylum and City, as the cityscape changes as well as Batman’s mission.

As noted, the plot of the book “picks up one year after the original game, where former Arkham Warden turned newly elected Mayor of Gotham City Quincy Sharp has decided to close down the infamous institution. In its stead, he establishes “Arkham City,” the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, inmates can roam free and do whatever they want as long as they don’t try to escape. To run this urban prison, Sharp has appointed Dr. Hugo Strange, a man who knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman.” The comic will also feature exlusive 8-page $0.99 digital only comics that will act as interludes between each issue as a way to bring comic fans a new way to get into digital comics. The interludes will be online exclusive until the trade, at which point they’ll be collected into the book.

The comic comes out in May with both it’s first and second issue to catch up to the release of the game in the third quarter of 2011.

Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
