Announced yesterday via IGN, two pieces of “Batman Incorporated” news were revealed.
First off, in August “Batman Incorporated,” ending with July’s issue #13, will get one last go at it with a special anthology issue. Featuring the work of Chris Burnham, Ethan Van Sciver, Dan DiDio and Joe Keatinge, the special will focus on the members of “Batman Inc” that aren’t Batman, such as Man-of-Bats, Red Raven, Jiro, Knight and El Gaucho. However, the one you should be most excited about is Bat-Cow, who appears on the cover of the book and will assuredly have the best story. Because it’s Bat-Cow.
Update: the Bat-Cow story will be written and illustrated by Dan DiDio and Ethan Van Sciver respectively.
Second, issue #11 will take a break from the main “Batman Inc” story with a special one-off, written by Chris Burnham and illustrated by Jorge Lucas. It will focus on Jiro, the Batman of Japan, and Lolita Canary of the Super Young Team, who go on a date but are interrupted by the Bat-Alarm and forced into battle. When asked why the change, Burnham stated that everyone thought it might be “fun to hop back into the spirit of the pre-New 52 incarnation of Batman Inc. and do one last done-in-one romp,” and having previously co-written issue #0 with Morrison, Burnham thought it would be fun to pick-up with Jiro again for a self-contained story.
“Batman Incorporated” #11 is out later this month, the final issue #13 is out in July, and the special (which features more Burnham but not Morrison) is out in August.
