In the three-issue action miniseries “Batman: One Dark Knight,” writer/artist Jock (“Batman: The Black Mirror,” “Snow Angels”) will tell the story of Gotham City when all the lights go out.
“One Dark Knight” begins with Batman assisting the GCPD escort of supervillain E.M.P. through a heatwave-stricken Gotham City. When the villain causes a citywide blackout, Batman finds himself fighting to bring back the light and get E.M.P. into Blackgate Prison.
“I think most readers know how much I love drawing Batman,” said Jock. “So I was thrilled by the prospect of marrying the visual take with my own storyline for ‘Batman: One Dark Knight.’ I wanted to tell a propulsive, tight action tale, set over one typical night in Gotham City; except when a blackout strikes it’s a night that goes very, very wrong for Batman. I can’t wait to share more with everyone soon!”

Jock has been one of the seminal modern Batman artists since 2010, when he created the story arc ‘Cutters’ with Greg Rucka in “Detective Comics.” He gained more widespread acclaim for his work on ‘The Black Mirror’ with Scott Snyder a year later, going on to collaborate with the writer on a range of Batman stories including “The Batman Who Laughs” and “All-Star Batman.” This will also be his first time writing a Batman story.
“Batman: One Dark Knight” #1 releases December 7, with each prestige format issue containing 48 pages for US$6.99. The first issue will feature a cover by Jock and variants by Cliff Chiang and Lee Garbett. A three-page unlettered preview is available here.
