Well, in case you didn’t know, there is going to be a Batman: Year One animated film, adapting Frank Miller’s famous Batman comic. And wouldn’t you know it, the voice cast was announced today in an Exclusive over at Heat Vision – and we are, of course, retelling you that information now.
Bryan Cranston (who you should know from Breaking Bad, but probably know from Malcolm In The Middle) is playing Lt. Jim Gordon, while Ben McKenzie is playing Bruce Wayne/Batman. Eliza Dushku voices Catwoman, while Katee Sackhoff is Detective Sarah Essen, a Gordon love interest.
Additionally, Alex Rocco will be voicing crime lord Carmine Falcone. So, needless to say… this is kind of effortlessly impressive. Cranston as Gordon? Wow.
Based on a script by Tim Murphy and directed by Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu, the Bruce Timm produced movie is set to be released straight to DVD in the fall after a July premiere at ComicCon.
