Based on the acclaimed story by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, the above trailer gives us our first definitive look at the upcoming animated adaptation of Batman: Year One. A highly anticipated film from DC’s animated division, the story will follow Jim Gordon (voiced by Bryan Cranston) as a rookie cop fresh in Gotham City dealing with dirty cops and the rise of a vigilante known as the Bat Man (voiced by Ben McKenzie). The above trailer looks fairly faithful to the comic despite the heavy focus on Batman over Gordon, but it’s dark and gritty nature (for an animated film anyway) should appease fans of the comic.

Eliza Dushku will also star as Selina Kyle, with Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Essen and Alex Rocco as Carmine Falcone.

The film is set for release in October 18. Look for a review from Multiversity then!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
