An interesting bit of news here: artists Becky Cloonan, Andy Belanger and Karl Keschl have opened an online distributor specifically to offer a retail space for freelance artists in the American and European comic book industry. The site is called Lounak Distribution and, well, I think it would be best to let them explain the site.

“The idea behind Lounak Distribution is to give artists who selfpublish a new solution to get their books in the hands of retailers, and through them to their fans. Instead of going through the usual channels, and loose half their shirt in the process, we offer them a low costing, more profitable way to get their production into you store so you can then get it in the hands of your customers.

This might be one of the best ideas I’ve ever heard in a long time. Right now, the products offered are limited to a handful of books and t-shirts from the three founders, but I’m sure in no time more artists will have products available so definitely keep an eye on Lounak Distribution

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
