Back in October I got to chat with Ben Stenbeck about his new creator-owned series “Our Bones Dust” from Image Comics. The first issue came out earlier this month and I’ve been rather happy to see how well received it was. It’s a great book and it gets even better in issue #2. Mike Mignola, who’s been working with Stenbeck since 2008 has this to say about the project:

I’ve had the great pleasure of working with Ben for about a million years now so I’m a bit conflicted saying this—but I think this, his first big solo effort, is the best thing he’s ever done. I’d like to think maybe I taught him everything he knows but the truth is he’s always been great and now he’s just taken that extra step and has finally become that truly great creator he was always meant to be.

And we’ve just heard from Image Comics that the trade paperback collection will be coming out in June 2024. Here’s a first look at the cover.

Written and illustrated by Ben Stenbeck
Colored by Dave Stewart
Lettered by Rus Wooton

In bookstores June 11, 2024
144 pages, fullcolour
ISBN: 9781534397200

A horrific survival adventure/sci-fi story set on a post-apocalyptic Earth, Our Bones Dust is a nightmare landscape of brutality and blood. Following an AI archaeologist on a final mission to Earth, a feral child equal parts predator and prey, hunted by a family of nomadic cannibals while a mechanical homicidal menace lurks in the background. Finding hope by the end is going to be very difficult. . . for everyone!

Our Bones Dust is the first solo outing – both written and drawn – by one of Mike Mignola’s favorite collaborators, Ben Stenbeck, artist on Baltimore, Witchfinder, Frankenstein, and Koshchei!
