Bendis is coming to Dark Horse. Legendary writer Brian Michael Bendis has announced at The Hollywood Reporter that he will be bringing his Jinxworld line of comics to Dark Horse, including hits like “Powers” and “Pearl,” as well as a new series titled “Joy Operations” with artist Stephen Byrne. As part of this deal, Dark Horse will be issuing out new editions of previous Jinxworld titles beginning in 2022.

While the Jinxworld line has previously been a featured part of Marvel’s Icon imprint and was its own imprint at DC Comics, Bendis says the move to Dark Horse was a long time coming. Speaking on the matter, Bendis said “From ‘Dark Horse Presents’ all the way up to ‘Black Hammer,’ Dark Horse has been at the forefront of the kind of creator-owned comics I personally adore and aspire to… Mike Richardson, Daniel Chabon, and everyone else at Dark Horse has welcomed us with open arms and it’s very exciting to start rolling out our brand new epics like ‘Joy Operations’ and reintroduce you to some of our classic Jinxworld titles like ‘Powers,’ ‘Torso,’ and ‘Jinx.’ Any of my friends will tell you I wished those books were published by Dark Horse back when we first made them. To the future!”

At the forefront of this announcement is the reveal of “Joy Operations” with artist Stephen Byrne (“Wonder Twins,” “Green Arrow”). This new series will launch on November 17 and takes place 55 years in the future, where a special agent named Joy fights on behalf of the Jonado Trust to defend its corporate-owned city. Things seem to be going great for Joy, until one day she begins to doubt her life and questions everything she’s been brought to believe in. At this time, “Joy Operations” is the only new title being created for the imprint, while Bendis continues to write “Justice League” and “Checkmate” at DC Comics.

Jinxworld has long been the personal playground of Brian Michael Bendis. Started in the ’90s, the line has seen Bendis create books like “Cover” with artist David Mack, and “Powers” with artist Michael Avon Oeming, the latter of which was turned into a television show that ran for two seasons on Sony’s PlayStation Network. The latest collection of “Powers,” titled “Powers: The Best Ever,” will be the first new collection from Dark Horse, and will be available on January 26, 2022.
