AfterShock Comics is adding another book to their rapidly expanding line-up, with Paul Jenkins (“The Sentry,” “Inhumans”) and Wesley St. Claire’s (“Fu Jitsu,” “Teen Titans”) “Beyonders.”

The new book, announced through The Hollywood Reporter, follows the adventures of a college student, a mountaineer, and a flatulent corgi, as they travel the globe and piece together a world-spanning puzzle put in place by the titular Beyonders.

“I’ve had a lifelong love affair with treasure hunts and code-breaking mysteries, and I wanted to create the ultimate ‘interconnected’ riddle,” said Jenkins, in the Reporter‘s interview. “Imagine a story where all of those riddles have one giant tapestry, and lead to one answer – that’s what the audience wants!”

In the wake of the Library of Alexandria’s destruction, the Beyonders spread fragments of the secret knowledge that remained. Now, college student Jacob Tate has begun uncovering hints of that knowledge, and his journey will take him, and his pet pup, to the furthest reaches of the Earth.

“If you’re someone who loves conspiracy theories, treasure hunts, and welsh corgis, you will definitely want to pick this one up,” said St. Claire.

To further enhance the book’s spirit of mystery and adventure, each issue of “Beyonders” will include a special code that allows readers to “race” the story’s protagonists to the finish, piece the Beyonders’ knowledge together themselves, and win fabulous prizes as a result.

“The story itself contains the treasure hunt,” said Jenkins. “AfterShock will provide further details to retailers and fans as we proceed but trust me: the prizes at the end are going to be really special and worth the time.”

“Beyonders” is set to debut in stores and online August 29. To learn more about the book and check out an exclusive, unlettered preview, be sure to read the full interview over at The Hollywood Reporter.
