ComicBook.com has revealed BioWare and Dark Horse are joining forces for an “Anthem” comic book series. Based on BioWare’s upcoming video game of the same name, the three-issue comic will be written by Mac Walters (“Mass Effect: Foundation”) and Alexander Freed (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) and drawn by Eduardo Francisco (“Infinite Crisis: Fight for the Multiverse”).

Dark Horse have stated the book will follow a boy named Kismet and his adopted sister Jani as they are rescued from an ambush by Yarrow, who are one of freelancers suited up in Javelin exosuits. The brother and sister team must fight for a better future for themselves and humanity.

Anthem is an online multiplayer open world game, where the player can take the role of a ‘Freelancer,’ one of a group of people who have left their civilization to explore the unknown landscape around them. Walters is the creative director at BioWare, and has co-written several “Mass Effect” comics for Dark Horse, while Freed is a longtime writer at the developer, and wrote several “Star Wars: The Old Republic” comics in addition to contributing to the game.

“Anthem,” issue #1, will hit stores on February 27, 2019, just days after the game is released on February 22, 2019. Dark Horse will also publish The Art of Anthem on February 26.
