In addition to the “Shatterstar” limited series announced earlier today, Marvel has also announced “Black Panther vs. Deadpool.” The five-issue limited series will launch in October from writer Daniel Kibblesmith (“Lockjaw,” “Valiant High”) and artist Ricardo Lopez Ortiz (“Wolf,” “Hit-Girl”), with covers by Ryan Benjamin. The pair will clash when Deadpool needs to get some Vibranium “for a reason he’d rather not disclose (because, well, it makes him look bad!)”

Marvel is capitalizing on Deadpool not being in the MCU (yet), with Editor Wil Moss saying, “Featuring a brawl you can only get in comics (for now anyway), BLACK PANTHER VS. DEADPOOL is the best of both worlds, equal parts Black Panther/Wakanda and Deadpool/Crazytown. In bouncing these two characters off each other (and sometimes through each other), Daniel and Ricardo have found some really fascinating insights into what makes them tick as individuals.”

Black Panther and Deadpool’s worlds have collided at various times in the comics, most notably in one of the storylines that the Black Panther film was inspired by. In Christopher Priest’s run on “Black Panther” in the late ’90s and early ’00s, Deadpool clashes with Killmonger while he has taken over as king of Wakanda.

“Black Panther vs. Deadpool” #1 releases on October 3.
