[Cover dialogue: “About time we get our own book!”]

DC has announced “Blue and Gold,” a new eight-issue miniseries starring Booster Gold and Blue Beetle (the Ted Kord version). Booster Gold creator Dan Jurgens will write the series, while Ryan Sook (“Legion of Super-Heroes”) will handle art duties.
DC’s official synopsis reads, “Desperate to regain the spotlight, Booster Gold looks to attract the public’s (and Justice League’s) attention the same way any washed-up, second-rate hero would — social media. The not-so-tech-savvy hero from the 25th century enlists the help of his best friend, Blue Beetle, who possesses both the money and the brains to help his old pal navigate the scary world of internet influencers. Watch out, evildoers, our heroes are live and online!”

Jurgens is a name familiar to longtime DC readers. In addition to creating Booster Gold in 1986, Jurgens was the major creative force behind the ‘Death of Superman’ storyline, creating the characters Doomsday and Hank Henshaw (aka Cyborg Superman). Sook would be best known to DC readers from his work on 2009’s 12-part Kamadi story, which ran in “Wednesday Comics” (written by “Watchmen’s” Dave Gibbons) and 2001’s “The Spectre” with writer J.M. DeMatteis. From 2003 to 2010, he worked on a number of books for the company, including “Arkham Asylum: Living Hell” with Dan Slott, and “Seven Soldiers: Zatanna” with Grant Morrison.
“Blue & Gold” #1 (of 8) hits shelves on July 20. It will be priced at $3.99, or with the special Dave Johnson card stock variant cover for $4.99.
