Via Substack, Jeff Lemire has outlined plans for his and Andrea Sorrentino’s recently teased horror project ‘The Bone Orchard Mythos.’ A line of interconnected comics series and original graphic novels published by Image, ‘The Bone Orchard Mythos’ will begin with a Free Comic Book Day one-shot next year, and continue in:
– “The Passageway,” a 100-page hardcover graphic novel, out Summer 2022
– “Ten Thousand Black Feathers,” a 6–8 issue miniseries, beginning Fall 2022
– “Tenement,” another hardcover graphic novel, due mid-2023.
No plot details for any of the books were given for now, although Lemire stressed “they all take place in the ‘same world’ and add to the overall mythology, but also will all tell their own unique and self-contained stories.” He and Sorrentino intend to continue the ‘Mythos’ with “two or three new books each year for the next several years.”
The project is the latest collaboration between Lemire and Sorrentino, who first worked together on “Green Arrow” at DC in 2012. Since then, they’ve collaborated at Image on the horror series “Gideon Falls,” and the sci-fi book “Primordial,” which is set to conclude with its sixth issue in February. Sorrentino commented each of these books are “just imbued with such a mood and a chilling atmosphere that is just so good to work with,” and that “I’m utterly excited that this is now out in the world. I promise you we’ll all have a lot of fun with this.”
The ‘Mythos’ begins with a 20-page story on Free Comic Book Day, which will fall next year on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Lemire promises he’ll “start posting lots of sneak peeks here on my Substack as we get closer to the launch next year. See you in the dark.”
