BOOM! Studios is probably my favorite of the smaller publishers, especially when they’re putting out awesome titles like Irredeemable. They consistently put out really good work that I highly enjoy reading, and I’m excited because I now have new titles to add to my pull!

The first of three titles is a limited series of Darkwing Duck books, entitled Darkwing Duck: The Duck Knight returns. Those of you who remember this fantastic character from your childhood will recognize this clear Batman parody any day of the week, and now to have a limited series is very cool. BOOM! has been pretty good about making comics for kids that adults can enjoy as well (i.e. the WALL-E book), so chalk Darkwing Duck up to that as well. The book starts in June.

The next title is not too much of a surprise, but cool none the less. Those that are familiar with Coheed and Cambria know that the entirety of the story is a concept album that has always been planned for comics. With two out of the five parts already in comic book form (one published on Image and one independently published), we now have In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 (arguably their best album) in comic book form. It will be scripted by Claudio Sanchez, lead singer of the band and who just finished working on his Kill Audio mini on BOOM!, and co-written by Peter David, who we all know and love already. David has also written the novel version of the prequel story that comes for those that pre-ordered the special edition, so he’s no surprise to the universe of Coheed and Cambria. The book starts in May, and BOOM! will also publish a collection of Second Stage Turbine Blade from Image.

The last title is probably the most exciting, in my opinion. We were teased about this quite some time ago, but now we have official confirmation. Sean Philips, the artist from Criminal and Incognito, will be drawing a new book from writer Fabien Vehlmann entitled 7 Psychopaths. The story is a new WWII story, self described as a “WWII epic” in which a group of people will attempt to kill Hitler. I know this is a story we’ve had over and over now (especially in the wake of Valkyrie and Inglourious Basterds just of recent memory), but with artist Sean Philips on the title you can be sure that the book will look great. The book starts in May.

So, which of these titles are you guys looking forward to getting?

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
