BOOM! Studios have announced that the Power Rangers comics series will be getting relaunched with “Mighty Morphin,” written by Ryan Parrott (“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”), with art by Marco Renna (“Aspen Universe: Decimation”). The first issue of the series will feature covers by InHyuk Lee, Eleonora Carlini, and Dan Mora. It is the first of two new series, with new creative teams, to have been announced.

The new series will start the ‘Unlimited Power’ storyline, and see a new team of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers form, with a mysterious new Green Ranger amongst them. The team will be pitted against Lord Zedd, who is reinvigorated with a new mission and motivation that will “change everything you thought you knew about [the] heroes.” The description for the new series also teases that there is a secret hidden in Zordon’s past that may prove to be the biggest threat to the future.

In a statement, Parrott said the series will be a “brand new beginning for an all-new Mighty Morphin team featuring characters you know – and an all-new Green Ranger. This book is a chance to explore the past, present and future of the team in ways you’ve never seen before.” He continued, describing how “coming out of ‘Necessary Evil,’ there seemed like an opportunity to not only start fresh but focus the story in on our new Mighty Morphin team like we haven’t before.” This will be Renna’s first time drawing a Power Rangers book. He said “I used to watch the TV show every day and being able to draw these characters is a dream come true. I feel honored to be part of this fantastic team and I am excited to go into this new adventure. I really hope you enjoy my art.”

“Mighty Morphin” #1 is scheduled for release in November. You can see the variant covers over at ComicBook.com. A special preview of the new series is scheduled to be revealed at the BOOM! Studios Mighty Morphin/Power Rangers Panel on July 25 at Comic-Con@Home.
