As part of their 10-day spotlight, The Road to San Diego, BOOM! Studios have announced “Pandora’s Legacy,” a new graphic novel from writer Kara Leopard (“[Super]natural Attraction”) along with art by Kelly & Nichole Matthews (“Jim Henson’s Power of The Dark Crystal”). We briefly covered this announcement earlier this year, but BOOM! Studios put out an official press release with more information about the book.
“Pandora’s Legacy” focuses on Charlie, Janet, and Trevor Panagakos, siblings who discover they’re actually descendants of Pandora. After breaking a jar in the middle of the woods, the trio must struggle to find and capture the horrors they’ve unleashed upon the world and save their family. BOOM! Studios editor Whitney Leopard says, “In ‘Pandora’s Legacy’ each of our heroes show that sometimes you’re more prepared for whatever life throws your way than you think you are.”
“Pandora’s Legacy” is based on a successful KickStarter campaign which has a field manual with all the creatures featured in the book. It is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ KaBOOM imprint which publishes books for a younger audience specifically middle grade or younger readers. “Pandora’s Legacy” will be released in print at comic book stores in November. What starts out as a typical family vacation to their grandparents house goes sideways when Charlie, Janet, and Trevor Panagakos accidentally break an old jar that was hidden away deep in the woods…revealing they’re descendants of Pandora and their family’s tasked with protecting a certain famous box. Now on the run, these siblings have to figure out how to capture all the monsters that have escaped the jar—and save the rest of their family—before it’s too late. Between talking cats, trying not to drop their phone, and making new friends, this is one vacation that these kids will never forget.
