BOOM! Studios have announced a new four-part miniseries, “The Expanse,” connecting to the Amazon Prime series of the same name, by writer Corinna Bechko (“Green Lantern: Earth One”) and artist Alejandro Aragon (“Resonant”). W. Scott Forbes will provide the main cover for the first issue, with Tigh Walker providing a variant.
The miniseries will take place immediately after the events of the fourth season’s finale and lead into the fifth season. It will follow Shohreh Aghdashloo’s character Chrisjen Avasarala, as she sees the “chance to reclaim her political position” after Bobbie Draper, a former Martian marine, gives her information about an “intergalactic black market weapons ring.” She sets her to investigate further, only to discover that the cabal are a much larger threat and one far closer to home than previously known.
Bechko stated that The Expanse is “a show I both adore and admire, so the chance to craft a noir-tinged plot involving two of my absolute favorite characters from the series makes me feel like the luckiest writer around.” Aragon echoed these sentiments by describing the show as “one of the best sci-fi television shows out there right now,” and said “I am honored to be a part of this journey and very excited to draw this universe and the incredible characters in it.”
ComiXology previously released four one-shots focused on James Holden, Naomi Nagata, Alex Kamal, and Amos Burton, in 2017, which were then collected in a single graphic novel edition by BOOM!.
“The Expanse” #1 will be released on December 2.
