Via CBR, BOOM! Studios revealed a new horror series called “The Approach” by writers Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, and artist Jesús Hervás (“The Empty Man: Manifestation”). Haun, known for his work as an artist, and Hurley previously worked together on “The Beauty” at Image Comics.
The series follows two airport employees, Mac and Abigail, as they, along with many other people, find themselves stuck at the airport after a blizzard. Things escalate further when the pair witness a plane, that they soon realize has been missing for 27 years, crash, and whilst rescuing a survivor, allow something darker to join them in the airport as well.
Haun described the series as “our love letter to eighties monster horror, with an absolutely terrifying creature, [that has been] conjured up by our amazing series artist, Jesús Hervás.” Hervas, meanwhile, said working with Haun and Hurley has been “exciting… because of the challenge of illustrating the horror and suspense while revealing just enough of the unknown mysteries and terrors that loom within the approaching storm.”
“The Approach” #1 is scheduled to be released in comic shops and on digital platforms in October. The debut issue will feature a primary cover by Haun, with variants being provided by Francesco Francavilla, Megan Hutchison-Cates, and Björn Barends, and you can see the former two variants here.
