Already famous (or is that infamous?) with DC Comics fans for his portrayal of Superman/Clark Kent in Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns”, Brandon Routh has been cast as another DC character in the CW’s “Arrow”: Ray Palmer, also known as The Atom. Known for his scientific acumen and shrinking powers, The Atom is a classic DC character who will get a new spin in the show, as both the new owner of Queen Consolidated and as a potential love interest for Felicity Smoak (NOOOO!) according to TV Line.
While Routh has some ill will earned in the minds of many fans, I for one find him to be a tremendously charming actor and one who definitely didn’t negatively impact “Superman Returns”. His work on “Chuck”, for example, was uniformly excellent, and he’s an actor who is impressive in his ability to subjugate his physicality for the needs of the role. I think he could crush as Palmer and pull off what’s asked of him in the part of The Atom. I’m in for this, and looking forward to seeing how they utilize him in season three.
