As Tom Brevoort pointed out on his Twitter, Brian Bendis is officially the longest running Avengers writer in Marvel history! It’s a very long list – two volumes of Avengers, two volumes of New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, Dark Avengers… and that doesn’t include crossovers! It’s safe to say that Bendis is now the Avengers writer in the same way that Stan Lee was when he created the timeless characters.

But that’s not all. As Ed Brubaker and Jonathan Hickman pointed out, the same could be said for Spider-Man. While Bendis has never written the actual Spider-Man title, Bendis is the man responsible for the smash hit Ultimate Spider-Man as well as including Spider-Man on all of his Avengers teams since he began New Avengers seven years ago.

So congratulations, Mr. Bendis! Here’s to seeing what you bring forth next.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
