In what seems like record time, Brian Wood’s upcoming “X-Men” series has already lost series artist Olivier Coipel after only 4 issues. But fret not as Marvel has revealed that replacing him on the title will be David Lopez and Terry Dodson. Lopez will join the book with Issue 4 and will rotate with Dodson on art duties.

For those of you who remember Wood’s short run on the last incarnation of “X-Men” should remember that Lopez was the artist who joined him for those issues. Personally, I really enjoyed what Wood and Lopez did with their issues, but one of the main problems with that book as a whole was it’s lack of identity; it really didn’t know what book it wanted to be. But in an interview with Marvel, Wood assured us that that won’t be the case with this new series.

Well, ideally, we’ll find the right mix. Action and drama is basically what the X-Men is as a concept. But this new series, this is designed to be a very action-heavy book, so what you’ll probably see, comparing it to last year’s X-MEN, is bigger, badder, and seriously amped up action alongside the drama and the interpersonal stuff. David’s up to the task, I know he is!

“X-Men” is due to launch this month and for more information on it and the upcoming art switch, check out Brian Wood’s interview at Marvel.
