In the back of this week’s Criminal: Last of the Innocents #4 (in stores now, and you should definitely buy it because it’s great, by the way), Ed Brubaker teased a brand new project entitled Fatale coming from him and collaborator Sean Phillips, set to be released January 2012. As Brubaker writes in the backmatter,

Fatale is a bigger story, one that’ll run at least 12 issues, and I think it brings a new twist to noir (or at least, a new twist to my noir).

In the next month or so, you should see previews of it online and in various places, so I don’t want to spoil it too much, but I’m very excited about it. It’s an idea I’ve been wanting to get into for a few years now, an epic noir/horror story that takes place from the 1930s to the present.

Brubaker does not elaborate any more than that, but anyone who has read his work on Criminal and/or Incognito with artist Phillips should probably be pretty stoked right about now. We definitely are.

Look for more on this project hopefully soon.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
