This is a bit of a two-fer as we kind of missed the news that Matthew Vaughn had stepped away from directing the follow up to “X-Men: Days Of Future Past”, the follow-up to “X-Men: First Class” his prequel to the “X-Men” trilogy directed by Bryan Singer.
Well, now Deadline is reporting that Bryan Singer will indeed return to the franchise to serve as the replacement director for “Days Of Future Past”.
The film will indeed be based on the Chris Claremont/John Byrne storyline of the same name featuring time travel galore. It will be interesting to see if Bryan Singer will bring back the black leather and realism of his trilogy or if he will continue the brighter sensibilities of “First Class” or if he will attempt to bridge the two.
We’ll find out soon enough with the film still slated for release July 18, 2014.
