Marvel teased this revelation with a teaser a few weeks ago, but now it’s official: they have a long lost sister. Also,it’s Neil Gaiman and Todd MacFarlane’s Angela.

This storyline is coming up in this summer’s “Original Sin: Thor and Loki: The Tenth Realm” #1, a five-issue miniseries that needs to calm down with the colons. “The Tenth Realm” will come from Jason Aaron, Al Ewing, Simone Bianchi, and Lee Garbett so it’s unclear if they’re going to do half of every issue or if they’ll swap off like a Thor/Loki crossover (think “Everything Burns” but with more metal bras.) According to Comic Book Resources, “Original Sin: Thor and Loki: The Tenth Realm #1-5… will reveal the ‘Tenth Realm’ that Angela comes from and the fact that Odin is her father.”
I mean it’s not really a surprise anymore but that’s how the comics game works.
The introduction of Angela as the lost Odinson (Odindaughter? Thanks to MC reader Braeden for informing us it’s actually Odinsdatter!) seems a bit off, like we’re just kind of punting her around the Marvel Universe in an attempt to make her fit in, but it definitely fits with her character. Angela originally came from Image Comics’ “Spawn” in an issue written by Gaiman and illustrated by MacFarlane until her rights swapped over to Marvel after “Age of Ultron.” Since then she’s been a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and has been pretty much tied to that book; now it looks like she’ll take on a bigger role in the universe, especially with the mystery around what her “tenth realm” (like those nine realms Thor’s always screaming about) is.
Our best guesses so far? Some universe of Angels, the Spawn Universe, or Neil Gaiman’s apartment.
“Original Sin: Thor and Loki: The Tenth Realm” comes out this July from Jason Aaron, Al Ewing, Simone Bianchi, and Lee Garbett.
