C2E2: Asmus and the Mann Brothers on Gambit

Starting in August, James Asmus will be writing a brand new Gambit ongoing with the Mann brothers on art and Rachelle Rosenberg on colors.

The book will stray from previous Gambit conventions like the Thieves Guild, and instead attempt to “re-introduce” the character for a new audience with new characters and stories. Gambit will be breaking away from the X-Men for a while (despite still being involved in two X-Men titles, “Astonishing” and “Legacy”), and will return to life as a thief, going into space and going up against Kirby-esque monsters. There will also be a supposed emphasis on Gambit’s sexy side, thanks to the sleek and stylish art of the Manns.

Also: no more head sock. Let that mane flow freely! (Hello, ladies.)

Look for more on the series closer to August.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
