Announced today at C2E2, it looks like there’s no need to mourn “Dark Horse Presents” after issue #36 this May, as it’s coming back in August with a brand new #1 on the cover and an incredible line-up.
The book, a staple flagship anthology at Dark Horse, will be rebuilt from the ground up. No longer 80-page issues, it will return as a slimmer and presumably more inexpensive book, and it will be headlined by the return of Geof Darrow and Frank Miller’s “Big Guy & Rusty the Boy Robot.” The book will be illustrated by Darrow with Miller doing dialogue over his art, and Darrow noted during the C2E2 panel that it would be a short, brief and simple return, while Darrow will be returning to “Shaolin Cowboy” later this year.
In addition to the return of “Big Guy & Rusty,” the new “Dark Horse Presents” will see a number of re-launches and new books:
- David Mack’s “Kabuki”
- New “Resident Alien” stories by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse
- Brendan McCarthy’s “Dream Gang”
- Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Andy Kuhn’s “Wrestling With Demons”
- More “Sabertooth Swordsman” by Damon Gentry and Aaron Conley
- Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey’s “Action Philosophers”
- Ricardo Delgado’s “Age of Reptiles”
- Horton and Dialynas’s “Amala’s Blade”
- Tyler Jenkins’ (Peter Panzerfaust) “The Chaining”
- Jerry Ordway and Alex DeCampi’s “Semiautomagic”
- Peter Tomasi and Keith Champagne’s “The Mighty” drawn by Leonard Kirk
- Ed Brisson’s “Murder Book” with Declan Shalvey, Michael Walsh, and more
- Shannon Wheeler’s “Too Much Coffee Man”
It’s actually an incredible line-up. “Action Philosophers?” The return of “The Mighty” (formerly DC)? Brisson’s “Murder Books” with art by Declan Shalvey and Michael Walsh? And new “Resident Alien?”
In the words of Philip J. Fry, shut up and take my money.
