“Wolverine” was missing from the solicits of July, but today at Marvel’s “Three Months To Die” panel Marvel opened up about what was going on with their death of Wolverine story — which, if you’ll remember, got a bit more confusing when they announced a second book to go along with it.
So the breakdown is this: June and July will see two issues of Wolverine each, illustrated by Kris Anka and Pete Woods (though issue #9 was solicited with art by Gerardo Enrique Sandoval Perez), culminating in his death in August. August will find the final issue of the story, “Wolverine” #12 written by Paul Cornell, as well as the four-issue “Death of Wolverine” weekly comic by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven.
Then, come September, we will see “A World Without Wolverine,” in which other books will reflect on the death of Wolverine. In addition to the projects you assume that will deal with this, a few new books were teased including the return of Salvador Larocca as well as Kyle Higgins and James Tynion IV coming to work for the X-Office.
Alas, poor Logan! I knew him, readers: a fellow of infinite hair, of most excellent team-building.
Of course, it is worth noting that Paul Cornell has stated that the death arc of “Wolverine” is only Act II of a three-act story. And characters never stay dead for that long in comics, do they?
