Caanan Grall’s "Muppet Thor" Comic Breaks Hearts, Blows Minds

Back in the day, I used to work with Zuda Comics to highlight their competitions and to interview their creators on this very site in a Zuda Weekly column. It was one of my favorite things I have ever done here, and perhaps my favorite thing I took from it was discovering (and interviewing) the remarkably talented Caanan Grall.

His Zuda title Celador is a splendid and joyous work, and once that ended and was eventually printed, he moved on to the Eisner nominated Max Overacts. That web comic has been one of the best out there, and just proves his greatness every week.

But when I say that he may have just released the best comic of 2011, I really hope you believe me. Not only that, but it was his 24 Hour Comic entry. Check it out on his site – titled “Muppet Thor.”

Blending the plot of the Thor film with a road trip featuring all of the muppets, this is a hilarious, touching and incredibly surprising comic. It is also a stunningly well crafted one for something that took just 24 hours to put together (and some time to finish inking of course). The guest star in it alone is enough to make grown men crumble.

If you are a fan of muppets, Thor or comics, this is a must read. If you do one thing today, it should be reading this comic. Keep up the good work Caanan.
