Marvel released their solicits today, and among them I noticed one solicit that made me raise my eye at first, then let out a slight chuckle. Those of you who were following the Cable ongoing after Messiah Complex (that ended right before Second Coming) know that before the book ended, it turned into Deadpool and Cable for it’s final issue, showing how Cable called Deadpool to ask for help in getting Hope back in Messiah Complex.
Now, the series returns for another one-shot (I assume), this time dealing with Deadpool’s feelings about Cable’s death post-Second Coming, which is something that has never really been dealt with. It’s kind of odd if you think about it, considering the two shared a comic for 50 issues and when Deadpool first appeared, it was with Cable back in X-Force New Mutants. Now former Cable writer Duane Swierczynski will address what nonsense Wade has gotten up to in lieu of one of his few actual friends:
Written by DUANE SWIERCZYNSKI
Penciled by LEO FERNANDEZ
Cover by DAVE WILKINS
Cable is dead, and no one’s more devastated than his old friend and partner, Deadpool (a.k.a. Wade Wilson, a.k.a. the Merc With the Mouth, a.k.a. the guy who’s in pretty much every other solicit this month). Sitting by Cable’s grave, Deadpool struggles to find the perfect way to honor his fallen mutant pal. Then… light bulb! Deadpool remembers Rumekistan, the troubled and totally fictional European country that Cable once tried to turn into a Utopia on earth. Deadpool travels there to establish up a Cable museum! A Cable amusement park! A Cable cable TV show! But Rumekistan isn’t quite what it used to be, and Deadpool’s appearance only makes things worse. To set things right, Deadpool will have to do more than just honor his old friend — he must become him!
40 PGS./Parental Advisory …$3.99
It’s a big 40 page issue at 4 bucks, but for fans of Cable and the rad bromance between the two characters, it’s probably worth a look.
