It’s not every day that I catch a comic that completely blows me away, unexpectedly. A comic I’ve never seen before at all that features something that makes me grin like an idiot and tap my foot out of excitement.
Last week’s entries to Pants Are Overrated, Dan and Tom Heyerman’s webcomic, featured the continuing adventures of the world of Calvin and Hobbes. It tells the story 26 years in the future of the duo (or the amount of time it has been since the first Calvin and Hobbes comic), finding Calvin married to Susie and the two of them having a daughter named Bacon who is having problems sleeping. Enter Hobbes.
If I really thought about it, Calvin and Hobbes is the most influential comic in my world because it was the first one I ever read and loved. It pushed me towards reading comics, as I am sure it did for many of you. Recapture that glory by checking out Dan and Tom’s two parts of faithful (and amazing) recreations. I have to say, a little part of me wishes Bill Watterson would let the two of them keep this going.
Check out Part One here and Part Two here. I’m not sure if there will be more, but let’s hope so.
