I hate Comic Con season because that means there are thousands of people getting cool things that I don’t get to own. For example, those who get to go and hang out with Marvel, you’ll have the opportunity to get some pretty cool posters. In lieu of shots of the actors, Marvel has released two concept art posters that lucky Comic Con attendees can attend. Let’s take a look.
First up is THOR (In theaters May 6, 2011)
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the epic adventure “Thor” spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
The screenplay for “Thor” was penned by Mark Protosevich as well as Ashley Miller & Zack Stentz, and Don Payne. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige will produce the film. Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel, and Marvel Studio’s Co-President, Louis D’Esposito, will executive produce.
Next up is CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER (In theaters July 22, 2011)
“Captain America: The First Avenger” will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
Directed by Joe Johnston and written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, “Captain America: The First Avenger” is based on characters developed by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. The film will be produced by Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige. Executive Producers on the project are Louis D’Esposito, Stan Lee and Marvel Studios’ Chairman David Maisel. Paramount Pictures will distribute “Captain America: The First Avenger” worldwide.
Even though we couldn’t get real posters, I’m not going to lie – these concept posters are pretty amazing. Gotta love that Thor one, at the very least. With Marvel releasing a lot of promotional images in preparation of Thor’s release next year, I think it’s pretty safe to soon we’ll get a trailer (at least a teaser) relatively soon. Keep your eyes peeled, true believers. I’m sure there’s more to come.
