Last Tuesday, DC Comics held events all over the country to celebrate the release of Flashpoint #5 and Justice League #1. At one such event, DC Co-Publisher Dan DiDio was chatting with some of the fans waiting in line. Here are some of the tidbits our intrepid source overheard:

– 2012 will be a big year for the Batman Beyond Universe. A Superman Beyond book was mentioned, as were “more Beyond titles.” Could this be the long rumored Justice League Beyond?

– The Justice Society of America book will be part of a second wave of books coming out in the late winter/early spring of 2012 (he mentioned February/March/April). Some of these books will be replacing books that don’t perform well as part of the New 52 initiative, others will simply be titles held back from the initial push. “We didn’t want all of our big guns to come out all at once,” said DiDio.

– Speaking of the Justice Society of America, DiDio said that it takes place on a “new” Earth-2, and the book starts out at an “important moment in the history of the JSA.” DiDio said that Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman would be on Earth-2 “in spirit,” but wouldn’t be a real part of the book. What will be a part of the book are the children of the JSA members, one day to be known as Infinity, Inc., a few of whom will be quite young. “Some will be exploring their powers against the will of their parents.”

– A very passionate fan asked about the fate of Teen Titan Raven, and DiDio said that she is one of the characters that has a miniseries planned for some time in the future.

– When asked about Captain Marvel, DiDio said that there are currently no set plans for the Big Red Cheese. Despite recent quotes about this initiative being all about the comics, DiDio said that the Marvel Family is in need of a plan; specifically, a plan of how to make the character have a large impact across all media, not just comics, with tentative plans for late 2012/early 2013.

This is exciting news and, even though many of us are clamoring for a Captain Marvel book right now, it is encouraging to see DC not rushing into things and wanted to firmly place their books in the right hands.
