Fans of all-ages comics rejoice: This morning CBR’s Robot 6 revealed that Fantagraphics will be releasing the entirety of Carl Barks’ Donald Duck work in hardcover, beginning in the fall of this year. Organized somewhat chronologically, the complete library will be spread across thirty volumes. At approximately $25 per book and with two being released a year, collecting the entirety of the library will certainly be an expenditure in time and money, but anyone who has read Barks’ work knows that it will be well worth it. Barks was a creator that greatly revolutionized comics, yet is sadly underappreciated in the superhero-heavy industry of modern times — though his contributions are still greatly appreciated in Europe. Hopefully this massive collection will rekindle interest in the almost forgotten legend.
