Announced at Deadline (with a tip of the hat to Comics Alliance), it looks like Shawn Crahan of Slipknot will be directing a movie based on Joe Casey and Chris Burnham’s “Officer Downe,” an incredible and incredibly violent one-shot-turned-graphic-novel that you should own two copies of if you don’t already.
Starring the eponymous Officer Downe, we follow Downe as he is killed and cloned for his barbaric war on terror. If made properly, this will make every Mark Millar adaptation look like a My Little Pony film. The makers of Crank are producing alongside Casey himself, and are looking at it as a possible franchise — which is great, because I’ve always wanted to see more “Downe” comics, especially after the beefed up graphic novel was released.
The following video, which begins with the words “What’s up — it’s the Clown,” gives you a taste of what you’re in for, if you’re unfamiliar with the material:
So that’s fun! I’m looking forward to this, especially depending on who they cast to be the lead. Is anyone from the Expendables too busy to make another brutal action film right now?
