Update: Just like that, Charlie Cox is now officially Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the upcoming 13-part Netflix series from show runner Steven DeKnight. As you can read below, we are all the way excited about this news, and we hope you are as well.

Original article: I have to admit: I hate posting rumors. Often, they don’t amount to much, and they get people excited for absolutely nothing. But Latino Review’s El Mayimbe posted an article saying that it is “looking like” Charlie Cox will play Matt Murdock in the upcoming “Daredevil” Netflix series, and I am willing to write about rumors…as long as they involve Charlie Cox.

If you’re not familiar with Cox, he played Tristan Thorn in the tremendously charming film adaptation of “Stardust” and Owen Slater in “Boardwalk Empire”, and stunningly little else of note. But in those two roles, he convinced me that he isn’t just a good actor, but one that is just waiting for the right role to become a star. Is “Daredevil” the one that would do that? I’m not sure, but given the extremely high profile of Marvel productions, this is one that I am highly supportive of.

And for Marvel, this type of casting would go a long way to earning my faith back in their film and TV productions given the recent issues they’ve faced. Well, I’ll be honest – I don’t find all of that so troubling – but let’s pretend they do think that and that Marvel does care. Fix it. Hire Charlie Cox. Marvel and “Daredevil” viewers will be extremely happy if that happens, that I can promise you.

More on this as it develops, or as it evaporates, as tends to happen with rumors.
