Fresh off his stint drawing half of the most recent “Infinity” arc in New Avengers, legendary artist Howard Chaykin will be writing and drawing the team retconned into existence during his half of the arc in an upcoming, five issue “Avengers 1959” mini-series beginning in October! The team’s stunningly pulp-inspired lineup of Nick Fury, Dominic Fortune, Kraven the Hunter, Sabretooth, Namora, Ulysses Bloodstone and the original Silver Sable was gathered together by Fury to tackle the remnants of the Nazi threat following World War II and public support of the team’s appearance in New Avengers was apparently great enough to earn them a second round.

According to Chaykin, he will be taking Bloodstone and Sable off the table for this run, and instead replacing them with Golden Age heroin the Blonde Phantom and an all new, currently mysterious character to be introduced. The mini-series will pick up several weeks after the end of “Infinity” and sets the team up against “a nascent network of post-World War II fascist villains that’s slowly coming together”.

We’ll have more on this as it’s announced, rest assured!
