Anyone who has followed this site for any prolonged period of time knows that we are most certainly fans of music-based Phonogram, written by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Jamie McKelvie. And while we are done crying and praying for the return of the title (we promise), we are actively supporting both creators wherever they go.

With that in mind, Gillen’s new book Journey Into Mystery came out last week, and while it is not overtly musical in nature, that doesn’t mean music isn’t a part of it. To that end, Kieron posted the playlist that helped him write JIM on his workblog.
The playlist is as follows:

Patti Smith Group — Gloria: In Excelsis Deo
Lift To Experience — Just As Was Told
Iggy & The Stooges — Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell
David Bowie — Sound And Vision
Cocteau Twins — Blind Dumb Deaf
Iggy & The Stooges — Search And Destroy
Fever Ray — If I Had A Heart
The Pipettes — Really That Bad
Mogwai — Mogwai Fear Satan
Grandaddy — The Crystal Lake
Sigur Ros — Hoppípolla
The Long Blondes — I’m Going To Hell

So sit back, open this up in a new tab so you can listen to it in the background, and relax. Then you can muse at exactly how “Mogwai Fear Satan” helped Gillen channel his inner-Loki.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
