Yesterday we gave you Kieron Gillen’s Journey Into Mystery playlist. Today, we give you more music!

The last issue of Casanova: Gula #4 came out last week, and with it ended the reprints of Casanova as we wait for the new stuff to come out in September (reportedly). For many of us who got Casanova in trade, this was the first time we were able to read the comic, reprinted now for the first time in glamorous color – and with this week’s issue came the famous “playlist” issue, in which Fraction interspersed the titles of songs throughout the issue, slowly fading and adding an extra layer of storytelling to the finale.

Of course, in reading it, the first thing I thought was – “I should listen to these songs in this order.” And after reading the backmatter of the issue (which, as a side note, has been one of the best things about this comic (aside from the story)), it was decided this was definitely worth sharing through the site.

As Fraction says in the back matter of Gula #4:

Music was, at least it was then, a crucial part of my writing process. I tend towards silence these days. Each chapter break counts backwards to the first issue; I had to find the line between songs that actually WERE in the mix while writing those particular issues for the sake of … I dunno, verisimilitude and the like. Sometimes it’s not THE song of that particular timeframe or issue in question as a previous song would’ve made it redundant.

Just a bit of goofy lagniappe for you, if you care about such things. I saw someone on YouTube had made the mix stream-able but I don’t know if it’s out there still.

Well, we’ve gone and done it for you (if only because I couldn’t find the playlist through Google searches). It should also be noted that you should most definitely read the backmatter of the issue if you haven’t already, with most of the other issues featuring interviews with various other creators and all of which are incredibly illuminating.

The track list is as follows:

1. MIA – Paper Planes
2. Peter, Bjorn and John – Young Folks
3. The Strokes – You Only Live Once
4. Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip – The Beat That My
Heart Skipped
5. David Bowie – Ashes to Ashes
6. Apples In Stereo – 7 Stars
7. The Mountain Goats – Woke Up New
8. The Flaming Lips – Evil Will Prevail
9. DJ Shadow – Six Days
10. Ike and Tina Turner – River Deep, Mountain High
11. Lovage – To Catch a Thief
12. McLusky – She Will Only Bring You Happiness
13. The Beatles – Taxman
14. The New Pornographers – Execution Day

So open this post up in a new tab, hit play, and leave it on in the background of your day!

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
