You all remember “Little League”, right? The formerly black and white webstrip featuring young versions of DC’s Justice League at pre-school, making friends and getting into trouble? Since we featured the strip last year “Little League” has gained a fair deal of attention (and color!), and it deserves all of it. It’s a stark reminder of what DC used to be: a fun, friendly and infinitely accessible story of a group of young heroes written and illustrated by a creator with obvious passion put into the work that doesn’t rely on heavy-handed modern trends in storytelling to sell you anything. No, “Little League” is what DC comics should be putting out, alongside more “Tiny Titans” and this new “Superman Family Adventures” title that Art Baltazar and Franco are doing.
With FCBD coming up next weekend (May 5th, mark your calendars!), Yale will be appearing at Acme Comics in Greensboro, NC as part of their FCBD event. Along with him, he’ll be bringing an exclusive new “Little League” print for $5 a pop at 11″x17″ in full color glory, featuring the heroic cast of the book doing what we all love to do: reading comics. It’s an adorable picture for an equally adorable strip, and if you happen to be in the area you should definitely visit and say hi.
In the mean time, if you can’t attend you can always enjoy the above image from the comfort of your computer. It certainly makes a nice desktop background for DC fans.
