This October, Marvel will release their next title in the on-going Star Wars comic universe: “Chewbacca.” Written by Gerry Duggan with art by Phil Noto, this limited series follows our favorite walking carpet crash landing on a bizarre planet and teaming up with the locals to stop an evil force from stripping the planet of all its resources.

“The best thing about Chewbacca is that he is a character that gets you out of trouble in Star Wars, and not into trouble in Star Wars,” Duggan said in an interview with MTV. “He’s got a warrior’s soul. He’s maybe a former Ronin that has a new master in Han. But he’s doing this for the greater good. He’s set aside his own ambitions to join the fight.”

Duggan and Noto aim to tell the book visually, with a minimal amount of word balloons and caption boxes, letting Chewie speak in his usual growls, grunts, and roars. “We are going to let Chewie be Chewie,” says Duggan.

Phil Noto, fresh off a stint on “Black Widow” (a title also primarily told through visuals and actions), says about working on “Chewbacca”: “I feel like my entire life has been leading up to this moment.”
