16 years ago, the first volume of “Chickenhare,” written and illustrated by Chris Grine, came out via Dark Horse Comics. The story, about a hybrid rabbit/chicken, was nominated for an Eisner Award, and was reprinted in full color in 2013. What has not be reprinted, however, is the second “Chickenhare” title, “Fire in the Hole.” Well, that is until now. Later this year, ahead of the release of Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness (more on that in a moment), “Fire in the Hole” will be reprinted by Th3rd World Studios in full color, unlike its original black and white printing.

As mentioned above, this is ahead of the release of the new Chickenhare animated film, Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness. nWave Pictures and Sony are co-producing the film, which is coming out later this year, as well.

“Chickenhare was my first book to ever get published,” said writer/artist Chris Grine. “I’m really excited to have BOTH volumes finally back in print and even more importantly in full color how they were always intended to be read!”

See the press release below for more information, watch the trailer of the film, and make sure to check out “Chickenhare: Fire in the Hole” wherever you get your comics.
