We’ve noted previously when people at DC are ridiculously clever in their quiet jokes. Now we have another example for you.

Snuck inside of the lastest issue of Superman (#709), new writer Chris Roberson wrote the above sequence which a) is not only the greatest reference of all time, but b) is the definitive proof that Superman is a damn great title worth buying. Featuring little Clark meeting little Lex in detention, we learn that young Lex Luthor took forty cakes in an act of revenge against his school administration. He took 40 cakes. That’s as many as four tens.

And that’s terrible.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
