Cinderella is arguably the best character in Fables. There are a lot of good characters in that book, but let’s face it – we all love Cindy! I guess the good news then is that Chris Roberson will be penning a second Fables spin-off book starring the talented spy in Cinderella: FABLES ARE FOREVER!
First off, I love the title. The Bond reference is absolutely priceless, as was the first one (From Fabletown With Love). It’s absolutely fitting to everything that goes on in the book. Second, the gang is back for the sequel. Roberson will be back for writing, and Shawn McManus is back on interiors with Chrissie Zullo returning for cover duties – which is great news all around. The first book worked on so many great levels for a spin-off, so to have everyone together for another story is good news.
So what is the plot? Well, from an interview at Newsarama, Roberson says:
As it opens, Cindy learns that someone has murdered one of the 13th Floor Sorcerers in the “Fabletown in Exile” up on the Farm. The evidence suggests that the murderer is none other than Cinderella’s arch nemesis, another Fable character who we’ve seen glimpsed in the Fables universe so far, but about whom we don’t really know too much. Cindy has assumed that her nemesis has been dead for years, ever since their last encounter back in the 1980’s, but if they aren’t dead, then it can only mean that truly bad things are in store for Cindy and the rest of the Fables.
Count us in. Fables was voted our number one book of the past decade, and Roberson fit right into the team of Willingham and Sturges with his mini, so we’re excited to see more.
