Comic Books Get The Shaft For This Upcoming TV Season

It looks like now is not the time to be a superhero/comic related book show on television, as this upcoming Fall season is not going to have many comic oriented things. Human Target, The Cape and No Ordinary Family have been cancelled, Breaking In is on the theoretical chopping block (although it might get saved), NBC has passed on Wonder Woman, Fox has passed on Locke and Key, and Smallville is officially over. I’ve also heard that the proposed Fables show is not coming to ABC Family, and who knows what’s going on with 100 Bullets? It’s kind of unfortunate, because you’d think that with the success Hollywood is having with comic book movies it might translate to the small screen, but it doesn’t look like that’s the situation.

However, for those who like comic books, there is always Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, Big Bang Theory, Supernatural, Chuck and Fringe, which aren’t specifically comic book related but do have their comic ties. I guess Castle, Futurama, Family Guy, and The Simpsons might count for that too, in a way. Oh, and don’t forget the upcoming Powers and Chew series!

Ok, so maybe it’s not a terrible time to be a comic show on TV. But even so. It’s a shame we’ll never get to see Wonder Woman.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
