There was a lot of news for 3 minute clip!

    • Image United, a new event previewed at the SDCC. Featuring art by six of the seven artists who started the comic company, with a script written by fan(and MC) favorite writer, Robert Kirkman. This was announced some time ago, but pages were shown, featuring characters drawn by the their creators. For example, every Witchblade is drawn by Mark Silvestri and every Savage Dragon is by Erik Larsen! Pretty exciting.

  • Dynamite Comics announced Blackbeard: The Pyrate King, written by one of the co-directors of The Blair Witch Project. It promises to give an alternative take on the historical figure. It hits shelves in October.
  • Top Cow announced a new Magdalena series written by Ron Marz with covers by Ryan Sook. It features a new, “Year One” storyline in time for the new movie to come out. It’ll be released next year.
  • There was a new Scott Pilgrim Video Game announce. It’ll be a side scrolling beat’em up published by Ubi-Soft in time for the movie starring Michael Cera.
  • IDW had a pair of announcements. The first features a story by Heroes actress Brea Grant about a group of outcasts during a zombie apocalypse, and the other is a G.I. Joe mini written by World War Z author Max Brooks.
  • AOTS contributor and all around Nerd Goddess will be featured on Booster Gold #23 in a “Booster Gold fan Club” T-shirt.

That some really big news. But the news that really got my attention? A SCOTT PILGRIM VIDEO GAME. If there was ever a comic book that was made to be adapted into a video game, it’s definitely Scott Pilgrim. When I hear side scrolling beat ’em up, I think of the classic NES games like Double Dragon or Battle Toads. Words really can’t express how excited I am. I just hope it’s on XBLA(what’s the Playstation equivalent?) and not a $60 disc. Because that would be RIDICULOUS.

Scott is excited too!

Gilbert Short

Gilbert Short. The Man. The Myth. The Legend. When he's not reading comic books so you don't have to, he's likely listening to mediocre music or watching excellent television. Passionate about Giants baseball and 49ers football. When he was a kid he wanted to be The Ultimate Warrior. He still kind of does. His favorite character is Superman and he will argue with you about it if you try to convince him otherwise. He also happens to be the head of Social Media Relations, which means you should totally give him a follow onTwitter.
