Comics Alliance Shut Down By AOL

It might seem odd for one website to be reporting on another website, but it’s that kind of day.

After rumors percolated over the weekend, Robot 6 has confirmed that AOL has shut down their comic-related website, Comics Alliance. A general staple in the comic community, the website was formed in August 2009 and lasted a good 3+ years, making waves in the comic community with thoughtful and humorous pieces both. It’s sad to see AOL shut them down, but along with their music division the writing was apparently on the wall, as they say.

We at MC have always respected Comics Alliance and the various work they did, from opinionated pieces to podcasts to news and reviews and more, and having met a few of their staff at various conventions we only enjoyed their output more. It’ll be a bit weird not visiting Comics Alliance for a while, but knowing their capable staff, we’re sure they’ll all end up somewhere good on their own. And probably soon.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
