So, by now everyone who is reading this post should have their copies of Paul Pope’s new graphic novel “Battling Boy”, right? I don’t see why not — it’s Paul Pope. Come on. (And, if you need extra convincing, here’s our early spoiler-free review of the book.)
Well, if you liked what you read but are like me in that you wish you had more to read, then I have good news for you.
Every now and then I troll around on Amazon looking for upcoming books so I can snag nice pre-orders, and today I’ve come across this in regards to the future of Pope’s new young adult graphic novel series:
Coming in January 2014, PictureBox Inc will be publishing “The Road to Battling Boy.” An art book that will be oversized, this will give you a first-hand look at the past five years of Pope’s work, full of original artwork and sketches. It’ll be a mix of making-of illustrations and artwork, and it should be an excellent companion to the book you just bought (as well as a great addition to your library of Pope comics).
Coming in July 2014, the sequel to “Battling Boy” arrives in “The Rise of Aurora West.” Coming in at a whopping $9.99 (right now, anyway — I’d reckon this may raise) this 160 page sequel will be published by First Second and feature what comes next in the Battling Boy saga. I don’t want to give too much away about the book for those who’ve not fully read it yet, but by the end of the book you should know well who Aurora West is — and that should give you a nice hint of what’s coming.
So, there you have it! More “Battling Boy!” Is your day not made? Are you not entertained?
