The latest addition to the comiXology Originals line will be “Lost on Planet Earth,” a five-part miniseries by writer Magdalene Visaggio, artist Claudia Aguirre, letterer Zakk Saam and editor Joe Corallo. Visaggio and Aguirre have previously worked together on “Kim & Kim” and “Morning in America.”

“Lost on Planet Earth” will be set in a future where humanity has united and travelled to the stars. The story will follow Basil Miranda as she continues the family tradition of military enlistment by joining the Interplanetary Union Fleet, only to flee the IUF admissions exam when the question of what makes her happy is posed. Miranda then gets into a relationship with an alien called Velda, who introduces her to a Richmond enclave of people just like her; the purposeless, the outcast weirdos, and minorities, who are lost in a perfect society of purposeful people.

Visaggio said, “This is a series about the ones who stay behind, the ones who don’t like what they see. It is an examination of choice and self-determination and self-knowledge,” and described it as, at its core, being a “sci-fi slice-of-life comic about a burgeoning group of friends making their own way in a world that has no place for them.”

“Lost on Planet Earth” #1 will be available on April 15. You can check out the preview for the issue at io9.
