Following up on the debut of their first creator-owned titles, comiXology Originals announced they’re adding two manga series from publisher Kodansha and mangaka Harold Sakuishi to their catalog. Sakuishi’s best-selling series “BECK” will be completed in English for the first time, while his more recent hit “Seven Shakespeares” will receive its first-ever English translation.
Fourteen volumes of “BECK,” the story of average teenager Yukio Tanaka’s transformation into a rock ‘n roll superstar, are already available on comiXology. Volumes 15 through 34 will release throughout the remainder of this year, allowing English language fans to finally finish reading the story of the titular band’s rise to fame.
Sakuishi’s “Seven Shakespeares” debuted in Japan in 2009 and completed its run in 2011, but had yet to receive an English translation until comiXology picked it up. While the series takes its name from the much-debated theory that Shakespeare’s plays were written by a group of seven different playwrights, it begins by focusing on Shakespeare’s early life and the history surrounding it, before eventually positioning The Bard as the head of a group of writers set to lead a play-inspired revolution. The first four volumes of “Seven Shakespeares” are available now on comiXology, with the last three set to release before the end of the year. Both series are also free to read for Amazon Prime, Kindle Unlimited, and comiXology Unlimited customers.
