As tweeted by Bergen Street Comics Press, the second trade collection of Michel Fiffe’s fantastic “COPRA” has been announced for January 2015, with pre-order information coming soon — so now seems as good a time as any to praise to the comics gods for the gift that is “COPRA.”
Inspired and an extended riff on John Ostrander’s classic “Suicide Squad,” Michel Fiffe’s one-man show “COPRA” is a comic about a team of anti-heroes framed for a crime they didn’t commit, on the run in an inter-dimensional caper that is all that is good about comics. Smart, wry, witty, complex and beautiful to look at, Fiffe’s work on “COPRA” is one of the most remarkable works in comics today. Yet, sadly, it’s really hard to get ahold of, as the self-published book sold out rather quickly. And as buzz grew, folks like you or I were coming late to the game in a world where so many people are timid about not jumping in at #1.
Well, now we can start correcting this. So, here’s a three-step plan that should make you happier, wiser and healthier:
1. Go to Bergen Street Comics Press and order a copy of “COPRA: Round One” right now. Don’t ask questions; just buy it. You’ll love it.
2. Go to Michel Fiffe’s etsy page Whitehaus and order all of ‘Round Three’ in single issues, still currently available. You may want to grab “Zegas” while you’re there, but I’ll leave it up to you. Just grab the third arc while it’s still there.
3. Keep your eye on Bergen’s previously twitter page or Michel’s, and wait for “COPRA: Round Two” to go on pre-order.
And that’s all there is to it. How To Win At Comics, “COPRA” Style.
This past weekend, I finally sat down and read all of ‘Round Three’ that I’d had sitting around. Now that I’m fully caught up with “COPRA” myself, I’m re-invigorated on talking about the book and sharing its wonders with new potential fans. Thankfully this has presented a great opportunity, so do yourself a favor and join the club. It’s well worth the price of admission and beyond.
